Hello I have Travertine coping around my salt water pool. If I use this to seal will the Travertine be slippery?
Thank you
No. It is a penetrating sealer, not a filming sealer.
I am sealing a new concrete shop floor that will have oils and coolant occasionally leaking onto it is the Masonry saver heavy duty water repellentproduct the best one for the oil and coolant or do you have one that would work better
Yes, this is your best option to seal the floors from spills and prevent deep penetration.
Can I use this on my pool cooping stone i have a salt generated pool system
Yes.
Can you use this on the brick of your home?
Use this product for vertical brick: https://www.deckstain.com/brick-water-repellent.html
Another manufacturer’s colored stain (without sealer) has been applied to the concrete already. Can I use this product over the existing stain? If not, what would be a better choice?
No, you cannot use this sealer over a concrete stain. Try this: https://www.deckstain.com/decorative-concrete-sealer.html
Is it necessary to acid etch a poured concrete garage/shop floor before applying this product? The floor is about 30 years old and I’m in northwest Washington state. I honestly don’t much care how the floor looks, I just want it to be easier to clean (e.g. with a wet mop).
No, do not acid etch.
I am sealing a new concrete garage floor with Defy sealer. How many years will it last before it needs resealing?
About 5 years.
One more question. Does the heavy duty require one coat or can a second be applied. If a second is applied then what is the recommended time period in between?
You can read directions here: https://www.opwdecks.com/allpurpose.pdf
Do you have a product for regular (non-stamped) concrete that has the wet look? My concrete tends to look a bit better wet.
Also – How long would shipping typically take from your facility to Chattanooga, TN?
Wet look sealers will not work on plain poured concrete. Dries very blotchy and uneven. 3-5 days to TN.
How would this product compare to Armor AR350 outside of the wet look? Armor claims their product last 1-3 years on exterior surfaces. How long does your product last? I am looking for something to seal and older concrete driveway (not stamped) to protect and help keep the look after pressure washing.
The MS Heavy Duty does not have a wet look after applying and will last about 5-6 years.
Plan to purchase this product to apply to a natural flagstone sidewalk. I thought I read somewhere that it would help stabilize the river sand that is in the joints. Is that correct? Thanks!
No. It is not possible for a penetrating sealer like this to harden or stabilize sand.
Thank you.
I live near Charlotte NC and just installed a new in-ground salt water system swimming pool. The poured concrete deck is coming up on the 28 day cure time. Is this your recommended product for my application?
Yes, it is.
Would you recommend Masonry Saver (DEFY) heavy duty on outdoor travertine?
Yes, it will work for this.
Also we are in Michigan so winter will be here soon. ?
You will need to remove the stains first.
Is there a product we can use to remove the stains? Or do you know of anyway to remove the stains?
Try watered down bleach at 1 part to 4 pars water. Apply, let sit for 10 minutes, and then rinse well with water to remove.
Thank you! We will try that.
Hello! We have about a month old driveway. We bought this product to seal our new driveway. The leaves from our tree have started to fall every time it rains and have left ALOT of staining on our driveway. (After the rain we try and get them off with a broom) If we apply this sealer will the stains from the leaves fade away still, or will the stains be permanently? I don’t want to look at all of these leave stains long term on my brand new driveway so I am nervous if we should seal right now or wait for them to fade. Any advise is appreciated.
How do you remove the cap from the 5 gallon? We remove the band around the large cap but could not figure out how to properly remove the cap.
Pry or pop it up.
I applied this to my driveway last summer. Excellent product. Should i power wash my driveway and re-apply the Masonry Saver (Defy) All Purpose Heavy Duty Water Repellent again this summer?
How long does the protection last?
4-6 years. No need to do again this year.
I am contemplating to apply this penetrating sealer to concrete pavers for longer overall protection, and then apply a film forming acrylic or epoxy sealer on top in order to lock the joint sand and possibly enhance the color. Would that combination work with either solvent or water based film forming sealer? Will it stick well to the surface treated with penetrating sealer?
No, that will not work nor would it make it last any longer.
Thanks a lot for prompt reply! Could you please explain why not? I installed the pavers last year and now I see some mild efflorescence in certain spots. I thought the silicone sealer would address that issue before I put acrylic on top. I was also told someplace else that a solvent based sealer should adhere just fine after silicone has been fully cured. Thanks again!
No sealer will stop efflorescence. Putting the first coat os HD on will repel the Paver Sealer. Does not matter the base.
Not sure if my patio was previously sealed with. Does this stuff work on solvent based ?
If the current sealer is still beading water, then no. If it is porous and does not bead water, then yes.
Using in an indoor space concrete slab with brush finish just need water sealing and ability to mop… is this the stuff? Also does the pump sprayer mater or could it be a hand pump sprayer vs an airless mechanical? Also is this sold in stores?
The pump sprayer is the correct way to apply. This product will work for your scenario.
I have a 4500 sq foot driveway of colored concrete pavers of varying sizes. Pavers have joint lock sand. Is this appropriate for this application? How long will one application last? 7 years? How many gallons will I need? Thanks
Are you just trying to seal the pavers or seal and enhance the appearance with a wet look and/or shine?
